What is Neurofeedback? Neurofeedback, also called neurotherapy, or neurobiofeedback, is a type of biofeedback that uses real-time displays of brain activity in an attempt to teach self-regulation of brain function.
How does it work? Neurofeedback is not a treatment for any one condition, but rather allows the recipient to better regulate their central nervous system and brain wave function through a series of treatments. It can be used as a stand alone approach, or combined with other therapies.
What do we offer? At Rise Therapy and Wellness, we offer LENS (low energy neurofeedback system) - a specific form of biofeedback that is used as a tool to help relax the brain. The process is non-invasive, painless, and drug free. We use neurofeedback in conjunction with talk therapy and as a stand alone treatment in order to improve the mental health and wellness of our clients. LENS mirrors healthy brain waves to clean out brain waves that have been compromised by trauma.
What can I expect? LENS sessions involve trained therapists attaching sensors to the client's head for for a period of time from few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the treatment needed. Patients do not need to focus on anything in particular during the process. Results are often seen in the first session, but can be more pronounced after a series of sessions.
All LENS sessions are performed by LENS certified therapists in our offices. Clients typically do a series of 1-20 treatments. Each client is different, but effects are usually felt within the first four sessions.
